It’s a well-known fact that Eurovision fans love records. No, not the seven-inch kind, but the “Who got the most 12s” sort of record.
One of those of note is the youngest winner. It’s held, of course, by today’s birthday girl Sandra Kim (née Sandra Calderone). Her record can never be beaten as she was a mere 13 when she won. Yes, 13, even though her song sings of her being 15. She’s also the only winner to represent plucky little Belgium. When she won, in Superman’s ice palace in 1986, she achieved a record score at the time. She scored off every country, and 14 of those 19 that could vote for her gave her a 10 or a 12. It took seven years for a winner to beat her score, and they had five more countries to vote for them. Sandra, you’re a legend.
Sandra is 48 today.
Gefeliciteerd/Bonne anniversaire, Sandra!
Sorry, but if Sandra was 13 in 1986, she can’t be 38 years old, more 47 years old. Make the math
