I suspect I’m not the right demographic (ageing homosexual who would rather children be seen and not heard) for Reiley’s frothy pop ditty. That said, it’s not as bad as I had been led to believe from reading other reviews.
Of course, there’s going to be a question mark over just how ‘live’ the vocal ends up being with double-tracked vocoder overlay, but that’s for the jury rather than the public to decide – and if this makes the grand final, that’s when they’ll weigh in and mark Denmark down.
‘Breaking my heart’ is inoffensive, but outstays its welcome by a good minute. Too repetitive for me with no build and nothing to truly latch onto. It’s the musical equivalent of beige.
