Never forget your heritage. Yes, we know there are people out there who may think the Eurovision Song Contest only started in 2012. But it has a rich history going back nearly 70 years.
In the early 1970s there was experimentation with the scoring system. Everyone would score at least two points from each country. But it’s arguable that the songs that won would have won anyway. In 1972, the first winners sent today’s birthday girl Véronique Müller to Edinburgh. The commentator remarked upon her French forename and German surname, so she’s probably very Swiss. Anyway, she’s still in the entertainment industry, coaching and nurturing young talent, probably with names as diverse as hers.
Véronique is 75 today.
Bonne anniversaire/Frohe Geburtstag/Buon compleanno, Véronique!
