And so, our semi-finals close with Denmark. I have to say that after all the gloominess we’ve had today this is actually musically quite uplifting. It’s very similar to the Dansk MGP, right down to the outfits. I have to say the off-white vest on the singer always looks a bit unwashed to me, and overall he’s a bit flustered at this early stage.
It looks and sounds almost identical, but with a bigger stage to run about on. The singer seems to start too far back and has to get a sprint on to reach his podium to start the song. In the break he legs it to the satellite stage and back in a little too few beats, and barely makes it back to home base to continue the outro. Even in the final go, his moves seem just a little off the beat.
If you’re a fan of this I wouldn’t get especially worried at this stage. We know the band can deliver having seen it back home, but this does need some tightening up. The energy of the music is there, and it’s this that’s the biggest draw, so long as the delivery can hit the mark.
It’s still not for me though. I’ll be off totting up my points long before this is finished, and I think many others will be too.
