The Romanian Eurovision song this year sounds like the sort of thing someone at the BBC might have offered to Bonnie Tyler back in the day – it has Belinda Carlisle b-side thing going on.
In terms of Eurovision, it takes way too long to get going. And when it finally does, it stops.
Drawn early in the second semi-final after the forced party of Rybak, to me this kicks off a run of some of the weakest songs on offer this year (it’s followed by Serbia and bottom-of-the-shot San Marino).
A few years back, Romania looked like they understood Eurovision, and many fans expected a win sooner or later. Something happened.
Appropriately, they’ve called the song ‘Goodbye’.
