Funding for the second edition of RTVE’s Benidorm Fest has received a green light from local authorities.
On Friday, the Generalitat Valenciana will approve a contribution of 1.5 million euros; half a million more than it paid last time around.
Three times higher than last year
The money will be used to finance festival logistics – almost half of it will go on transport and TV production facilities. Around the same amount will cover staging with 275,000 euros going on technical equipment. Costs all round are higher – staging and technical equipment are three times what was paid in 2022.
The Generalitat Valenciana believes a show like Benidorm Fest merits funding for high production values, as it will bring investment not only to the city of Alicante, but also the entire region.
Christmas Gala
RTVE plans a Benidorm Fest 2022 Christmas Gala on 4 January at 2210 CET. It will air through La1 and RTVEPlay.
