The general consensus in the fan community is that UMK 2023 is one of the better national selections of this year. And that from the get go, there was only one act likely to win. And that’s what Käärijä (overwhelmingly) did.
The format has not changed for the past couple of years, but to remind you, the international juries voted first and they made up twenty-five percent of the total vote – with the other seventy-five percent being from the Finnish public through televoting.
This has, in the past, led to massive scores, and nothing seemed to have changed this year either on that front. Don’t get too excited, it’s just the way their adding up works.
We also had three interval acts: The Rasmus, naturally, the host and the third place from last years UMK, Bess. They all took turns at entertaining the crowd.
By evening’s end we had the following result:
Artist | Song | Jury | Televotes | Total | Place |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Robin Packalen | "Girls Like You" | 28 | 81 | 109 | 4 |
Kuumaa | "Ylivoimainen" | 44 | 63 | 107 | 5 |
Käärijä | "Cha cha cha" | 72 | 467 | 539 | 1 |
Keira | "No Business on the Dancefloor" | 42 | 91 | 133 | 3 |
Benjamin | "Hoida mut" | 34 | 32 | 66 | 7 |
Lxandra | "Something to Lose" | 46 | 24 | 70 | 6 |
Portion Boys | "Samaa taivasta katsotaan" | 28 | 124 | 152 | 2 |
Sweden v Finland on 13th May. I’m cheering for Finland! Absolutely Epic entry.
