So the good folks at RTCG had one more panic up their sleeves following Neonoen’s withdrawal, informing us yesterday that they would “announce their decision on Montenegro’s participation in Eurovision 2025” tomorrow on Good Morning Montenegro – that is to say, today, although if I don’t get a move on with cranking this article out it’ll have been yesterday. ( Phil – It was!!)
Do we, as Eurovision fans, fret and fuss when we hear a statement like that? Of course we do! Ohmigawd they’re not pulling out altogether are they? Are they??? Are they? Say it ain’t so!
Well, no, they’re not pulling out together. Panic over, if you were panicking. The logical simple move in a situation like this is just to sub in the runner-up from the national final, and the logical simple move is the one they’ve taken.
So (unless anything else happens in the next three months or so), Montenegro will definitively be represented in Basel by Nina Žižić and the song Dobrodošli. Almost certainly.
