I get how Eurovision is about the different languages and stuff, but don’t shut me down for saying that Slovenia might be looking at its first win if this were in English. For me, this is easily one of the strongest songs in the running for 2023, with likeable and charismatic performers, so you never know.
So many more accessible entries this time out seem to run out of ideas after two minutes, then chuck in the chorus a few more times before shuffling off stage. Carpe Diem continues to add ideas and displays musical excellence to my ears. The vocals are tight, and the production is vital.
I’ll admit I’ve yet to catch any live takes of the song, so I fully admit, they could fail to translate, but as it stands, this is one song I’ll be listening to long after Liverpool
