Kalush Orchestra – Stefania
You know, I want to like this. I really do. I couldn’t abide SHUM last year until I saw it live, and then I was tipping it for the top … so there’s still hope.
To see Kalush make the Turin stage will be hugely emotional. You’d need a swinging brick where your heart should be to not feel this. Music has been allowed a place in the most despicable war to happen in my lifetime. The cruel, barbaric and criminal actions of Putin against the people of Ukraine must never be forgiven. Russia will remain outside the international community for many years as a result of this war.
I bow down in pride at the men who unite on our stage and embody the Eurovision message of unity and peace through song. If they win, it sends a message … though will it be heard by the right ears? At the same time, a victory would bring hope to a people torn asunder.
All that said, I’ve never been one for shouty rap, especially when mixed with turbo-folk. I detested this as soon as it was confirmed for Turin. I still cannot listen to it all the way through.
Seriously … I mean, this is just noise.
