SLOVENIA – Klemen – How Much Time Do We Have Left?
I get caught out by deeply personal songs like this on a regular basis. When Michael Schulte brought You Let Me Walk Alone to Lisbon, I didn’t rate it for a second, it promptly came fourth and I sat there going “Oh. Um. How did that happen?”
I wasn’t going to be caught out the same way twice, no sir, not me, so when Vincent Bueno brought Amen to Rotterdam in 2021 I KNEW that it was going to strike a similar chord with people and became heavily invested in it. Obviously, therefore, it came twelfth in the semifinal and didn’t qualify.
I’m not going to be caught out the same way three times (spoiler – I am, in fact, going to be caught out the same way three times), because Klemen’s story very quickly chimed with me. I see and recognise that it’s almost nowhere in the fan polls and betting odds, but I think that the fan polls and betting odds are wrong. I think that this COULD catch a wave.
Or maybe it won’t. Another possibility is that it doesn’t. It might not catch a wave. It might not need to. Maybe it’s just Klemen getting something out of his system that he needed to and the result doesn’t matter.
Anyway. There’s not enough of me to sit on more than one fence at once, this isn’t “prediction”, it’s “liking”. And I really do like this. It’s intelligently written, it’s skilfully delivered and once I got it, it let me into Klemen’s world for a few minutes, told me a story and made me feel something. And that’s basically the point of a song, isn’t it?
