Tastes around Europe are a curious thing. You get the songs that everyone likes. Obviously, they usually win. Then you get those songs that are loved in certain parts of Europe and ignored by the rest. Then you get those songs that no-one gives a hope to but still does well.
Such was the case with today’s random song. The clincher could have been the nation it respresented. I was there in Oslo and thought this song from Russia would fall away. But Peter Nalitch and his little band, with its castrato overtones and sepia photograph must have got people’s interest somehow.
How is beyond me. I still don’t get it. What do you think?
