My table for the day keeps reminding myself that Armenia have a hot mess of a song, and they kind of do. Yes. What I will say however is that it’s been visualised in a reasonably coherent way – when there’s a lot going on, all manner of Armenian symbolism, holding the whole lot together in a consistent shade of pinkish mauvey lilac ties the scheme together, allowing the simply clad performers to shine as individuals and as a group.
But still… hot mess of a song. First reaction. It’s over complicated. It’s Armenian imagery for Armenian people. It has a perfectly serviceable audience out there, but it just feels like the kind of thing that clears the heat and then stalls in the final.
