Plinky plonky reggage-lite quickly morphs into yet another ‘Fuego’ clone, inexplicably followed by a downbeat chorus. It makes for an uncomfortable mix. Things only truly get going in the last minute when the song finally decides what it wants to be. By then, the damage is done.
Never will the reprise clip matter more.
Michela does her best, but it’s another case of a singer who doesn’t quite fit the song.
I’m hoping the Maltese do their usual thing of buggering up the staging. It would be marvellous to see Michela in a green-screen leotard, merging chameleon-like with a busy floral background, leaving us with a floating head and hands.
Make it happen, Malta. Make it happen.
