This is something of a departure for Armenia after a few years of relatively mainstream pop and dance bangers. It’s far more ethnic and is probably going to struggle to connect with a wider audience as a result.
The lyrics convey a message of individuality and freedom, particularly emphasising the liberation and empowerment of women. It’s jolly and enjoyable and all the things you’d want from an ethno-banger. There’s none of the earnest agonised nonsense that often plagues this particular Eurovision genre.
Not my bag, but it’s refreshing.
As for its potential in the contest, songs that bring a strong message of freedom and empowerment, combined with a catchy melody and engaging performance, often do well.
