Mo’s Eurovision Countdown 2019 – Greece

Two reviews in one day? I realised that if we carry on at the one-a-day pace, we’ll not finish until the semi-finals have aired.

Each year, there’s at least one song that I adore, but feel forced to admit isn’t going to win. Mostly because the studio trickery and production create something great, but live, some of the polish lifts.

I don’t base this judgment on a below-par performance at the recent Amsterdam concert, which Duska gamely admits was ‘the most fun’ she had bombing.

I love Katerine’s voice. If nothing else, ‘Better Love’ has helped ship extra copies of her excellent debut album. The song itself is beautifully structured and has something often ignored in Eurovision – a decent lyric.

I don’t doubt there will be more than the Cypriot douze points coming its way, but I can’t see Greece going all the way. Which is a shame. For me, this is a classic.
