You wait all year for a Eurovision song to have a go at Putin, and along come two in quick succession. The Czech entry though is a world apart from the trite rubbish served up by Croatia. ‘My Sister’s Crown’ is performed in Czech, English, Ukrainian and even finds room for a smattering of Bulgarian. It’s a call for sisters to rail against their brothers being sent to die in battle.
A fair bit of borscht was spilled in the making of this video.
I’m not sure exactly why I love this so. It’s perhaps a more natural successor to last year’s Konstrakta, though rather than sound watered-down, it’s taken things in a whole different direction and there is a discernible melody going on here.
I’d go so far as to suggest this might give Czech Television their best result in a while.
