Monika Linkytė has been rummaging in the bins around the back of whichever theatre happens to be staging ‘The Lion King’ and found a box of leftovers.
The biggest issue I have with this song – setting aside the fact it’s instantly forgettable – is that the performance doesn’t match the lyric. Monika bounces around the stage smiling like a cat with two bumholes, interacting with her cheerful backing vocalists while singing about carrying sadness with her since the age of 16 and having a bleeding heart.
Lithuania showed every sign of having cracked Eurovision and I was pretty much counting down the years until their first win. This isn’t it.
