Phil’s Eurovision Countdown 2023 – Part 22/37 – Lithuania

I know that for 18 years I have had the pleasure of a laminated badge that tells me I am important, and for 22 years I have had your company, but sometimes, just sometimes, a song makes you wonder why you bother.

Monika and her (British) backing group just bore me to tears.  It’s a song in the “Proud” mould, with a woman singing a ballad down the camera at me, but it reminds me, both in style and in the later parts of the staging, of something that came out of ‘A Song for Europe’ in about 1994. It does nothing different or groundbreaking.

I even got bored writing this review – that’s how contemptuously dull and offensive I find this song.
