Mo’s Eurovision Countdown 2018 – San Marino

Following a national selection process that had very little to do with either San Marino or its national broadcaster and everything to do with the Staub family, this song ‘triumphed’ at a selection that took place in Bratislava (of course).

At the low energy, depressingly funless final, Maltese Jessika found herself sharing the stage with a last-minute addition – one of the worst rap acts to haunt Eurovision since the British Emenem, Daz Sampson representented the UK in 2006.

The combined end result is truly awful.

The verse is turgid, the chorus forgettable and then there’s the risible efforts of a white girl rapper in high heels and a plaid shirt. Jessika herself has a characterless voice, one that suggests a session singer way out of her depth. And don’t even get me started on the lyrics.

The juries won’t go for this unedifying mess. The viewers, will surely pass. I tend to feel that after this shameless payola, San Marino isn’t going to be missed when they finally throw in the towel.
