Mo’s Eurovision Countdown 2022 – Part 23 – Lithuania

Monika Liu – Sentimentai

While it’s tempting to dismiss this as the Lithuanian shot at recreating the spirit of ‘My lovely horse’, by the end I was won over. I enjoyed the song. But as it ended, that was it. I couldn’t care less if I never heard it again.

Monika isn’t packing any kind of point-grabbing punch with an instantly forgettable song. To produce something so slight, despite the quirks, mesmerising performer with an interesting voice and superb studio production is sterling work.

It’s like someone took every bit of ten winning songs (albeit from the 70s) and produced a big old block of meh. The staging will be interesting. She’ll either keep it simple and look deranged or go over the top and … look deranged.

Not this year, Lithuania.
