Viewing hit

The show was a huge hit with viewers. More than 160,000 people watched the final live with 26,000 more following the show online. Add in those following through Social Media and the show scored almost 400,000 viewers.

Last year

After the 2021 contest, there was an outcry at money spent to try bringing the contest to Valletta. A review was commissioned on behalf of Maltese Prime Minister Carmelo Abela after reports  emerged the public broadcaster’s spending went over budget to the tune of over €650,000, and that public funds had been used to place bets on Destiny in order to inflate her odds with bookmakers and make it appear that she was one of the favourites to win.

However, the full extent of the review, which would detail the processes used to determine that there was no wrongdoing and would detail to whom money was paid, has been kept under wraps by the government.
