In the same vein that I find Loreen’s possible Eurovision-winning song boring and bland – the same can be said about Remo’s little ditty. I get it’s a song about a kid that never wanted to be a soldier but played with water guns as a kid, and I am sure it is heartfelt, but it just seems like a dirge, and that is not a good look.
The song just goes on and on, and there doesn’t seem to be anything to hang a hook on apart from Remo’s vocal, which is a massive risk to take on a song with this much emotion. Will it stand up? – Maybe? – But Europe might well be asleep by the time the voting starts.
