If at first you don’t succeed – fuck off to another national final, that’s what they say isn’t it? – Megara, the group because thats not her name apparently,  failed spectacularly in the Spanish final a couple of years ago so threw her hat into the ring and thought “San Marino are desparate for people. Maybe I’ll fit in here instead” and lo, she has!

Onze:Onze is not your typical Eurovision song from Spain or San Marino because it’s actually good.   Megara can sing this entry level rock song really well and she looks like she is going to be all sorts of fun at parties in Malmo too.  She has a look for every occasion in the preview video, though mainly copying Tank Girl it would appear,  and it will be a game to work out which one she is going to go for in the semi final.

I also think we have to take the live performance at the decades long San Marinese final as an outlier because a competent broadcaster would make her look and sound half decent – RTV San Marino are not that and if she gets her team to do all the visuals on stage and the sound mixing off stage this has the potential to get out of the Semi on its own merits.  It grabs you with its directness, fools you with the Spanish bits in the middle, and then grabs you again at the end whilst all the time having this rock chick front and centre wearing, well, not a great deal and shaking those ample assets Babara Windsor would have been proud of.

6 pointsIt’s Eurovision rock which some would sneer at but it’s goal should be to get to the final which, with fair wind and no fuck ups, it should do quite easily.  If it was the *actual* Spanish entry, people would be having kittens!
