An ongoing toxic Brexit debate has nothing on the shenanigans that will fly around the old Interwebs this Wednesday morning (tomorrow) as UK broadcaster, the dear old BBC, announces (with a familiar mix of enthusiastic reluctance) the six songs to do battle on Eurovision: You Decide 2019.
This year, there’s an all-new location (sexy Salford), an all-new format (duels, borrowed from Melodifestival). We get the same old presenters, but you can’t have everything. All of which suggests the BBC budget has quadrupled. To four pence. Or at least that’s what some of the outside world thinks. Here at OnEurope we believe the BBC works jolly hard to give fans of a minority show a television spectacle to be proud of!
Want a listen?
In the grand tradition of these events, the lovely Ken Bruce will reveal the songs from 10am onwards. They’re going to be available on demand (if you’re not geo-blocked) from the BBC website.
If you are one of those foreign types, I’m sure the Internet of Things will help out – or you could read reviews from the last 20 years, because most people have nothing new to say.
We’ll listen, we’ll cogitate and get back to you with our thoughts … just as soon as we have some.
