Conan clinches Portuguese place at 2019 Eurovision

Only those who haven’t lived under a Eurovision rock in recent months would be unaware that tonight featured two national finals where fans desperately wanted their favourite to win.

Iceland was the first, but late-night Portugal also carried the hopes and hearts of many.

The Festival da Canção, was broadcast live from the Portimão Arena and saw eight acts in tight competition. For many weeks fans have raved about the sellotape/spoons presentation favoured by artpop performer Conan Osíris.

‘Telemoveis’ finds Conan pondering the futility of modern life while aiming a sideways swipe at his mobile phone.

As the votes rolled in, Conan was up against NBC, but ultimately won top marks from both jury and public votes.
