Denmark, giving off Siouxsie and the Banshees vibes were next.

They say there was so much energy on the stage, now having changed their performance between the national final and here. they’re really pleased and happy with the performance they put together for Turin. They have done some rock covers of Eurovision songs and are fans of the songs they recorded. They say that they are going to continue doing the covers after the Contest (assuming they have a career left).

Both ways

The story behind writing the song is that it works both ways, both as a ballad and as a rock song, so it was worth writing both of them. Lead singer Mathilde “Siggy” Savery was a solo performer before meeting up with the band and that is why it might seem like it ‘The Show’ is sellotaped together. They all confirm the song is about their lives and their feelings.

Ihan was in Baku and she describes it as the point of no return; it made her love music for the rest of her life and she has always had a dream to come back to Eurovision, but it took her ten years to find the rest of the band … lucky really considering they live in both Denmark and Sweden (Well I guess there is a massive bridge between the two now).

The usual Spanish question was next and, predictably, the girls like Spain – well they couldn’t say that they hated it could they? It does seem as though they liked the pre party scene, though. The band make decisions as a democracy, but joke that Siggy is really in charge.

Empowerment

A question about female empowerment is next, and they hope that they inspire both boys and girls to pick up their guitars and rock out. They lacked role models growing up, so they hope they can inspire the next generation. Their inspiration is actually one of the band’s dog (which is all they talk about) and they almost named the band Anders after him, then Saint Vincent after a specially made guitar.

They said that it’s frustrating not to be able to play live, as they did in Melodi Grand Prix, and the band feels constrained by having to learn the parts rather than improvising, having said that, they also understand why the EBU choose to insist on playback.
