The Swede smell of success?

2018 MF contestants

It’s nearly Christmas, so time for Swedish tellymakers SVT to reveal the acts who will compete to represent them at the Eurovision Contest of Song in 2018.

The rumour mill has been running apace, but a press conference today revealed details of the 28 songs and performers for the 2018 Melodifestivalen.

Chief Melfest Man Christer Björkman has promised a mix of styles, from humour (oh joy) to traditional schlager with everything inbetween. So that’s helpful.

Tickets are now on sale.

From each semi-final, the songs that earn first and second place qualify directly to the final, while the songs that place third and fourth proceed to the Second Chance round.

The bottom three songs in each semi-final will be eliminated from the competition.

An additional four entries qualify from the Second Chance round to the final, bringing the total number of competing entries in the final to 12.

All 6 shows will be hosted by David Lindgren.
