Ah, the fan favourite. We get them every year. Sometimes the fans are proven right. Sometimes they crash and burn. Sometimes they do one thing in a semi-final and, assuming they make it, do the other in the Grand Final.
Our friends in Austria sent today’s birthday girl Salena (née Selina-Maria Edbauer) along with her pal Teya to Liverpool in 2023. Their song built up quite a head of steam during the Spring, and some even thought that it could do something really big when (not if) if got through to the Saturday night. With a lot of help from the [Poe Poe Poe Poe Poe] audience they sailed through to the Saturday night shenanigans down by the Mersey. And then some bright spark decided to put them on first. Yes, a good opening song, but their chances of a win were well and truly scuppered. The juries loved it – bless ’em – but the televoters didn’t. Baffled? yeah, we were too.
